There are so many faces approaching day by day. Still what remains? Her friendly eyes, his pointed nose, those funny curls or that smile? We do save some features of those faces, even if we never ever meet again. Especially if the faces were seen on a stage, and we had the chance to observe them playing for us, speaking to us, performing: musicians, actors, artists. Still after a few years passing by only a jumble remains. The portraits of this book bring back former moments or lead us to never experienced dimensions while putting the puzzle pieces into their place. Little by little those faces emerge.
morpho bumped into the portraits arranging old negatives and photos. So most of them are first printed here. To accompany the photojournalist’s pictures, which show stars who visited Budapest and the surrounding big cities in the 90’s, László N. Göbölyös has attached his own memories.
Negatives emerging from the back of the drawer gave the photographer a boost and he decided that after 14 years he should work together again with GNL on his new book. They both enjoyed working together again, many old – funny and bittersweet – story turning up: these can be read in the book. They themselves were surprised the most how many star interviews they had made in eight years. Beside David Bowie among many others Nick Cave, Jean-Michel Jarre, Slash, Lemmy, John Mayall, Klaus Meine, John Cleese, Jackie Orszáczky, Tony Banks, Ben Kingsley and Salman Rushdie were also put into the album.
